It'll be a busy weekend in Weyburn, with hotels and restaurants sure to be packed with athletes and their families.

Many will be here to participate in a soccer tournament being hosted by the Weyburn Soccer Association. President Jason Roy said they're expecting roughly 300 athletes to attend, ranging from U9 to U19.

"This tournament does mean a lot to us, but it should also mean a lot to our community because these families will be coming into Weyburn, they'll be staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants," he noted. "So this is, I think, a pretty big deal for Weyburn as a whole."

He said they'll charge a spectator fee of $5 per day or $10 for the weekend. Roy said the Spark Centre, with the Mainil Field, Roy acknowledged, makes Weyburn, "the envy of the province of having a facility like this. Read more HERE.

Special Olympics athletes will also be there, as well as at Weyburn's Tim Horton's helping to sell Special Olympics donuts. Read more HERE.

With the weather about to become a lot more favourable for outdoor activities, many will likely be taking advantage of the daytime highs in the zero-degree range to head out to do some outdoor skating on the Souris River, or at the Spark Centre's outdoor rink. There's also a Crokicurl rink just outside of the Weyburn Leisure Centre.
