Set to begin on the 10th of November at 9:00 a.m. and carrying through until November 25th at 5:00 p.m. is the Weyburn Humane Society's Online Auction. While it's not technically their first attempt at this style of fundraiser, this iteration of the Online Auction is expected to be their largest yet with over 40 new and gently used items submitted by community members so far. President of the board, Randy Bakaluk, says that although the start date is approaching, more item donations will be eagerly accepted.

"These items are coming from some really generous people from the area who want to help look after the animals at the Shelter. We're looking for just about any items, as long as they're in good condition. We'll mark it in the auction if it's new or gently used."

Current entries include children's clothing, seasonal decor, pet accessories, jewelry and more. Truly, all item donations are welcome and will be auctioned off in benefit of the animals residing at the Shelter. One particular item has caught the watchful eye of Bakaluk, something he thinks will be a hot seller when bidding opens.

"I couldn't help but notice this little hobby-horse, it takes me right back to my childhood. I used to hop on and ride a horse like that, with the springs, you know? Pretend I was a cowboy!"

Some of the item entries will come with a minimum starting bid relative to their value, but all will be subject to the standard 'minimum $1 increments' rule from there. You can view the items available now at the auction page by following THIS LINK. Bids are placed by commenting on the post of the item you are attempting to win.

Bakaluk adds that while they've typically done fundraisers like their 'Raise the Woof' comedy night around this time of year, they're attempting something new to gauge the community's interest in this type of initiative. If successful, it could lead to regularly occurring auctions to help with the cost of supporting the animals in their care.

You can support the Weyburn Humane Society by either donating your new and gently used items for the Online Auction, or by placing your bids starting November 10th at 9:00 a.m. All the action can be found HERE. To make a donation, please call or text (306) 861-3634.
