Junior and Senior music students at Weyburn Comprehensive School will be hitting the Cugnet Centre stage this week to share some music with the community, with their Spring Band Concerts.

The Junior students from Grades 7, 8, and 9, along with the Junior Jazz band, will perform on Tuesday, June 4th,. The Senior students from Grades 10, 11, and 12, as well as the Senior Jazz band, will perform on Wednesday, June 5th.

Band Director Brayden Jensen said there is no admission cost but they will be taking donations at the door.

"Usually the concerts are pretty full and the kids are excited to get to perform," he shared. "There are lots of kids in the junior concert, especially. Junior kids are going to be doing three songs each, we limit it so that it doesn't take too long, and then our senior groups, because they're a little more organized, we can do a couple extra songs with them."

"The junior bands, they didn't get to do music Festival in March because it ended up being canceled, so they've got a couple of their festival pieces and then each group also has a more fun sort of recognizable either a movie theme or a pop song to play along, and then Senior band and senior jazz band have a mixture of things as well, along with the choirs, have some things that people will be able to sing along with."

Jensen said performance is like the icing on the cake for the students.

"An old band director I used to have say would say that it's time to take our music out of these four walls and share it," he said. "That's the most important thing with music. So come on out to both concerts. It's going to be going to be lots of fun and it'll be a great way to end off our musical year."

The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and performances will begin at 7:00 p.m. for both nights.
