It’s the beginning of fall, and many different sports are starting up in Weyburn, including curling.

Weyburn Curling Club Board Member, Dennis Lizuck said they are looking forward to the 2022-2023 season, which begins on October 24th, 2022.

“We offer lots of opportunities for all skill levels,” Lizuck said. “We've got junior curling, we have stick curling on Tuesdays, there's a drop-in stick curling and there's also stick curling in the leagues as well. There's competitive curling, we have Monday night competitive league and Wednesday, and we have some recreation leagues as well.”

Lizuck said for those who have never tried curling, it’s just like any other sport.

“I have heard some people say because they watch curling on TV, it seems like it's too hard or it's too competitive, but really it isn't. It's just at your own level.”

He added there is drop-in curling some nights, for anyone who would like to try it out.

“We're really excited to get back to the rink next month, and we hope to see some new faces and some old faces and maybe some younger curlers. In order to get old curlers, you need to have younger ones start.”
