In the first game of the best-of-three Qu'Appelle Valley Baseball League finals, the Regina Rockies drew first blood against the Weyburn Iron Pigs with a final score of 4-2.  

The Weyburn Iron Pigs, making their fourth consecutive appearance in the finals, were limited to six hits in the loss. Troy Miller led off with a solid performance, notching 1 hit in 4 at-bats. Talen King exhibited a disciplined approach, drawing 1 walk in addition to his 3 plate appearances. Mike Onstad and Will Morris each contributed with 1 hit and 1 walk respectively, demonstrating the Iron Pigs' commitment to generating offensive opportunities. 

On the mound, the Iron Pigs saw James Giroux and Eric Evans both spending some time pitching. Giroux's 4 innings of work saw him face 21 batters, striking out 4 and allowing only 2 earned runs. Evans followed up with 2 innings, tallying 1 strikeout and permitting 2 earned runs. 

Brad Weisgerber of the Iron Pigs shone on offence, making the most of his time at the plate with 2 hits, including a triple. Walker Happ's performance was highlighted by a double, contributing to his team's offensive efforts.  

Game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled to be played Wednesday night in Weyburn at Tom Laing Park.
