This year's Blow Away Hunger event was a success, and to top it off, the winner of the snowblower was, in fact, the very same person who donated a Teddy Bear to help fill the F-150 truck at Great Plains Ford!

Ruth Boren from Yellow Grass said she donated some snacks.

"I donated a Teddy bear, and I realized after it was a food donation. But anyway, I threw the teddy bear in," she shared.

"I feel for the people that need the food," she said when asked why she donated. "I just like to donate."

She added she couldn't believe she won.

The community of Weyburn, in just two days, helped us fill the Ford F-150 with 1,147 lbs of food donations, and cash and cheque donations totaled $7,305, plus we received $250 in gift cards, for a monetary total of $7,555. Western Prime Meats also donated $6,000 in meat!

Community Ministries Worker with the Weyburn Salvation Army, Shannon Fodchuk, said this will benefit them tremendously.

"Our food bank is really low right now, so we're very excited to unload the truck and fill those shelves up for our clients," she said. "It's a great fundraiser right now, but it's amazing to see how fast the food has gone. This is great to get us through Christmas and the New Year, but then in a couple of months if you come back there will be empty again."
